Heads from The Post Apocalyptic Tattoo Series

Over the past six years, a narrative has been building in my work which features physically distorted characters. The idiom selected for these representations is informed by a low art, tattoo/comix esthetic. These individuals, who are apocalypse survivors, build their self assured attitudes on the fact that everyone's physical deficiencies are obvious - so no one feels weak, unequal or ashamed.

The work produced for this Post Apocalyptic Tattoo series, whether it be drawing, painting, sculpture or print, relies heavily on line - its power to convey weight, strength, frailty, form and fluidity.

This series of four signed and numbered limited edition serigraphs are made with a combination of india ink drawings and individually painted mylars. The color is created using the silkscreen printmaking process. These prints are a unique collaboration with master printmaker Gary Lichtenstein, in his studio in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
