Artist Statement:

We are always mutating. Extrapolating a bit, and looking many years into the future, I've created characters who bare extreme modifications in their biology caused by man-made contaminants such as tainted water, polluted air and transgenetic food.

My esthetic is rooted in a sort of comix-centric/tattoo look, while the hideousness of my subject's forms are countered by formal compositions, bold colors and sinuous lines.

The paintings are all executed in a reverse painting technique - acrylic paint applied in numerous layers, directly to the back of clear Plexiglas. Each main character selected for a painting has a history; personality traits, pivotal life experiences, and a specific talent which makes them intriguing enough to be immortalized as a color tattoo.

The mixed media wall sculptures come from key main characters in the paintings - special individuals who call for three dimensional interpretation, and an additional public commemoration within this imagined future world.

The India ink drawings are based on automatic renderings. They are meant to depict the common, everyday person of this post apocalyptic world, and the platform for this new culture.

A series of four signed and numbered limited edition serigraphs were made with a combination of india ink drawings and individually painted mylars. The color is created using the silkscreen printmaking process.
